Week 7: Nicole Buckbinder

My first example is an ad that shows subtle use of color, which is monochromatic. This ad is an Abercrombie and Fitch ad, which are all usually in black and white. I feel like they use black and white to make it be less tacky. Abercrombie and Fitch have very simple and plain clothing and the lack of color ads to that effect. Especially since the figures in the ads usually aren’t even wearing clothing.

My second example is the bold use of color that used bright and many different colors. This ad is the Mariah Carey fragrance ad. I found this ad to be really unique because a lot of fragrance ads are black and white to give them a more professional look. I think for this ad the reason it has so many colors is because this fragrance is supposed to have a flowery spring scent. Spring is representative of many bright colors because of the flowers. Also Mariah Carey is in a bright white dress which helps her stand out from all of the colors around her.
