Week 8: Reiter

1. The Noodles and Company logo contains a lot of the gestalt principles, and the restaurant offers lots of good food : ) To begin with the logo is contained in an ellipse- a very pleasing visual image because of its perfect symmetry. Continuation is also used in the logo. The pan of noodles points to the text, and the tail of the ampersand cups the c, leading your eye to the rest of the word.
Grouping is also used in the logo, as far as the way that the text is grouped together, noodles being bigger and the company being smaller.

2. Playful, casual, and relaxed

3. Color plays a big role in the logo. As we talked about in class the two word yellow and red are used most in restaurant labels. The designers in the logo use color well because the same color of the noodle also outlines the ellipse, and is the color of the ampersand sign. Having this continuation of color really ties the logo together. Also, red is a very bright color that pops so the eye is attracted to this logo. I also think it is very effective how the black pan is outlined in white like the text. It really makes the pan pop, especially since its leading towards the white text.
