Week Eight | Loguidice
1. For my post I chose to do the logo for the Monster Energy drinks. The first Gestalt principle I saw at work in this logo is closure. Without this principle, we wouldn't see the "M" in the green marks. I also see continuation because the "M" points down to the product name. Additionally, Isomorphic Correspondence is at play as well. The strokes that are used to create the "M" resemble claw marks, (hence the name monster), making us visually think of the name through that symbol.
2. This logo communicates power, energy (hopefully, considering it's an energy drink), and has a wild, raw feel to it.
3. The logo is placed in the center over a black background dramatically, allowing us to percieve it as powerful (It's not "hiding" off to the side, no, it's a bit "in your face"). The bright green used really stands out to me. It's used to make the logo bright and eye-catching. The green kind of also reminds me of those green slimey monster-type things you would think of in the movies (anyone else remember any of those? No?). As said before, the type (not just the M) has a raw feel to it. The M resembles claw marks, and the type "Monster" is written in kind of almost looks like it could have been carved into the logo.
