Week 2: Nicole Buckbinder

The website that I chose that I think is very “user friendly” and easy to navigate is perezhilton.com. For those of you who do not already know it is a celebrity gossip website. Very much similar to a blog this website is updated continuously with new posts and new news about all different celebrities all around the world.

On the left hand column of the website the user is able to access whatever it is that they are interested in very easily. First of all the user can change the language to his or her own preference. The user can also jump to a certain date that they are specifically looking or gossip from. In addition, you are able to search for a certain celebrity that you want to read gossip about by either typing in their name or scrolling down the alphabetical list of all of the celebrities. There are different formats of news on these celebrities including pictures, articles, videos, audio clips, and more.

In addition this website has a lot of advertising on the right hand column that is specifically geared towards the users that would enjoy reading this type of website. In each posting on this blog style website, there are bolded words, and different stars are linked on each post so you can just click their name to read all of the news that was ever posted on them. In addition all of the users can read or comment themselves on any posting that they want. They can ask questions on a posting and their questions will be answered. The typeface used is “verdana” which is a really easily read typeface, and it is not at all distracting to the user.

  1. Good observations, Nicole!

Perez Hilton may be user-friendly, but it is certainly not celeb-friendly.

    Keep up the good work!
