Week 10: Jasuta

Surfline.com is every surfer's home page. It provides surf and weather updates for exact surf spots around the world, surfing news, industry advertisements, video cam streaming for locations, and features on groms, pros, women, and up-and-comers. It's the best.

1. There is a 10 column grid in place that's broken down 3-4-3 so that there are 3 visible columns. The center column is larger. For the most part the website follows it, with the exception of the top feature. There are rows in place to some extent, but boxes expand beyond it as its content is needed. It works with the columns, but I think the website could benefit from utilizing a horizontal grid.

2. The grid lets the eye organize the space. The information is organized from personalized Surfline reports, to news, to features and advertisements.

3. It is engaging with its structure because it delivers the information the surfers are looking for based on importance; those surfers who are just on to check the reports get their information directly and interactively, but those who are perusing the site are able to easily navigate the page and receive their information clearly.

4. I think it causes tension because it's busy. There's a lot of information on it. And I would say it's negative tension. It's messy. But then, do you know any neat surfers?
