Week 10 l McGIll

1) MSNBC is a good site to get news from and utilizes a grid design that aids the reader in finding the type of information they want. The site uses a 1-3-2 grid design which highlights the most important information in the 3 section of the grid.

2) This grid system organizes the site and helps the reader navigate. The first grid is more of a navigation grid. The second grid (which is grids 2-4) displays the lead story as well as other popular stories. Finally the 3rd section (grids 5 & 6) Show other important stories and advertisements.

3) This structure engages the reader because the reader knows that the content will change but the the structure will remain the same so that the reader will know where to look for stories he or she is interested in.

4) The structure does not really cause any tension. While the advertisements in the 3rd section are a bit distracting, over all the structure provides order for the site.
