Week 13: Nadell

SI.com has very simple hierarchy. What stands out the most is the large picture which is center to the left. This picture goes with the top story in sports at the current time. Usually this photo leads the reader's eyes to the description below, which leads to the full story. Also the picture and the description are right next to the "Top Stories" box which has links to a lot more articles about the biggest headlines in sports. I think that the hierarchy of SI.com is that they want you to read the articles. Sports Illustrated is a magazine that prides itself for having the best sports writing so the main goal of the website would definitely be to show that strength. The first thing that catches the eye, the large picture, is the most important thing on the page. As a sports fan you want to know the current big stories and this large picture gets you to the biggest thing the quickest. I think SI.com does a great job of connecting the reader with great sports writing. This comes directly from the visual hierarchy that they use. I think for improvement SI.com could have more videos that connect with their stories, which would help make the site more technology advanced. Since Sports Illustrated doesn't really have a video or TV component, it will be kind of hard to add extensive video to their site.
