Ebay is a site that functions because it is easy to use and navigate through. If people had to work hard to sell the random stuff around their house, they probably wouldn't sell it. When you open the page, your eye is instantly drawn to the top left corner where the logo sits. Directly below that is the search bar. Sometimes people log onto Ebay to browse, but often times people visit with a certain item in mind that they are looking for. They do not need to waste time trying to figure out where the search bar is. The search bar is easily the aspect of the site that I use most often. Another helpful feature which many people browsing likely utilize is the categories function on the lower left side of the page. This is a nice feature for users who might just want to "see what's out there"
Overall I think Ebay has a very effective website that is user friendly.
