Week Ten: Wolk

1. The Student Voice (a Syracuse campus publication) has a website with a very defined grid system in place. The three main stories of the day are broken into columns with vertical lines breaking up the columns. Throughout the entire page, the only content that does not fit into the grid system is the line of links at the top of the page, like "Current Edition" and "Sections."

2. The grid system aids the reader by drawing the eye down the page and making it clear that there are three completely different stories. The pictures are included within the grid system, allowing the reader to easily tell which story goes with which picture.

3. The structure does engage the reader by showing them where to find additional information, not just that information that is currently on the page. By drawing the eye down, the reader can easily see the information and the links at the bottom of the page, which helps the reader to better grasp the magazine as a whole.

4. I would say that there is not any tension in the page because of all of the white space that is used. This makes the page look clean and easy to read, but also gives off a look that is sort of cheap.
