Week 10: Nicole Buckbinder

1. CNN.com is a very well layed out website that is divided by the uses a grid system by arranging the information into four basic columns. It is then separated into rows which sets up separate box’s for different topics. In this case each box contains a certain topic of news intrest and inside each box are different headlines and news reports pertaining to each topic. There are also advertisements and top stories that break the boundries of the grid but it works for them because it makes them stand out from the rest of the website.

2. The grid for CNN.com makes the readability really easy for the viewer because everything is layed out easily for the reader to find. Every topic has its own box and it makes it really easy for the viewer to navigate the website.

3. It engages the reader with its structure because it makes it so that they are able to find exactly what they are looking for and without any difficulty. Each headline for each topic is bold and bigger then the headlines of the actual news articles.

4. I think that it doesn’t cause any negative tension because of how well layed out it is and because of its easy readability and its easy navigation. The website gets right to the point and nothing around it is too distracting. Everything is there for a reason and it is easily found whenever needed.
